About Gyro

Gyro International was formed in 1912 by three recent college grads as a means to extend their friendships. Gathering other like-minded friends they formed the group that became the first Gyro club. The name Gyro was taken from the attributes of the fascinating gyroscope machine, which once put into motion maintains its balance and steadiness, giving rise to the Gyro precepts of Power, Poise & Purpose - synonomous with the values of true friendship.

Clubs

Gyro International is composed of 92 individual clubs with nearly 2800 members. Clubs are grouped geographically into 11 districts, each with an elected Governor. These Districts range from Prince Edward Island to California, and from Florida to British Columbia. A recent addition, Tokyo.

The Fresno Gyro Club became a partner with Gyro International on October 31, 1964. It was the 198th club to join.

Meetings

Gyro International meets twice each year - an Annual General Meeting during the summer months and usually a mid-year business meeting during the winter. These meetings conduct several days of meetings along with training and seminars, as well as social gatherings. Each district follows a similar pattern as well.

District IX conducts an annual convention, and in the absence of an Interim meeting, it supports a "Spring Fling" as a mostly social venue for the membership
